MSquaredSports is a place to critically look at sports throughout different eras within their own context. The site is built on basketball numbers that are adjusted for the era a player or team played in and for the opponents faced, so that a great playoff run in 1962, 1996 and 2022 can be compared on the same scale.
Player profiles cover a career era by era, with the peak window, the teams around the player, the greatest games and every playoff series. The leaderboards rank playoff performance by season and by multi-year window, and the strength of schedule page shows how hard each player's opponents were. The teams pages rank the best teams, offenses and defenses ever, the games pages pick the best playoff game of every postseason, and the articles make longer arguments on top of the data.
All numbers and calculations are original to MSquared Sports. Some of the data used to calculate era, player and opponent adjustments is taken from Basketball-Reference.com. Every adjustment is explained in plain language on the method page. Rankings and analysis are always subject to change when new data becomes available.
